New FamilySearch, NFS, is the church’s new flagship internet based family history program.
| The New FamilySearch was created to: |
| • | Reduce duplication of temple ordinance work. |
| • | Simplify the process to submit names to the temple. |
| • | Help families work together to identify their ancestors and to make sure their family history is as accurate and complete as possible. |
All Temple submissions at the Los Angeles Temple now require the use of New FamilySearch. Each NFS class is free and only one class is required. However, you are welcome to attend more than once.
Classes are offered on Friday afternoons from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM and Sunday evenings from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. and 7:00 PM to 9 PM. The Friday classes will be for the first 16 to register and the Sunday classes will be for groups of no more than 20 from wards. The High Priest Group Leaders or other ward leaders can reserve a Sunday night time slot for their wards.
The classes will consist of classroom instruction in our computer laboratory with help from our missionaries. You should be registered on NFS before attending the class. Please contact us for materials to help register ward members at 310 474 9990 or email Richard McBride at mcbride@usc.edu We can email you a registration guide for members.
Advanced New FamilySearch classes will be offered next year.
