Silver Certification Course In Family History

Course Description

         The Silver Certificate course offered by the Los Angeles Family History Training Center at the Los Angeles Regional Family History Center (LARFHC) provides advanced training for Family History/Genealogy Research. The classes are offered Sunday Evenings 7-9 PM. This training is designed especially for those who already know the basics of family history/genealogical research and wish to get more advanced training. This course is especially for Family History Consultants, volunteers who work at family history centers, members of the church and nonmembers who wish to improve their family history/genealogical research skills. Course Schedule

Starting June 8 2008

         These classes are offered by the Los Angeles Regional Family History Center on Sunday evenings from 7 PM to 9 PM. Pre-registration is required. There is a $10 pre-registration fee. If a person cannot afford the $10 registration fee it will be waived.

June 8 US Census Records - Soundex, Book and Computer Indexes and Computer Searches
June 22 Advanced PAF 1 Includes notes, sources and attaching images
June 29 PAF Sharing: GEDCOM Files and Merging
July 13 Death Records: Cemetery, Obituary, Death Cert., etc.
July 20 Wills and Probates
July 27 Church Records: Non-LDS

Those finishing this course will be awarded a certificate of completion. Additional growth in your understanding of family history can be obtained by answering the questions in the Bronze and Silver Certification Booklets. These are especially good for family history consultants and those who work at family history centers. These certification booklets also help you learn how to better use the resources at this regional family history center. These certification booklets were developed at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City for training their missionaries. They have been slightly modified for use at the Los Angeles Regional Family History Center. All of the missionaries at the LARFHC are strongly encouraged to finish these booklets. Those who finish the Bronze (Silver) Certification Booklet will receive a Bronze (Silver) Certificate of Completion.

If you wish to attend Silver Certification Course, please completely fill out and submit your information in the spaces below or register at the Sales Desk at the LARFHC.

You will receive an email within 2 weekdays confirming your registration. If you don't receive the email, stop into or email the LARFHC at lafamhist@dslextreme.com with your SUBJECT "Silver Certification". Your pre-registration will be finalized by paying the $10 fee by check after receiving the confirming email. Make your check out to LARFHC and the subject "Silver Certification" and send to:
